Race 23 Big Events Redbridge Cycle Center

2 days after race 22, this was the first time I raced twice in one week.

This is alread the toughest circuit that I race on, but with the extra element of fatigue, this would be even harder. Another note I should mention was that I was wearing number 13, important if you believe in luck I suppose, but I do not and wore this number the correct way up. While warming up on circuit I saw a rider from the last race I participated in and we talked about it a bit.

I lined up on the 3rd row and started off trying to practice sharp corners while in a group and it ended up going well, a few laps in I was climbing well and no one was in front of my line going up hogs hill, i moved up the outside and was 5th wheel as we crested the steepest part of the climb, so I decided to keep going, leading the group after the start/finish line, I floated off the front and stayed there for the mojority of the lap, I was able to take my own lines through the corners, which was good. I let them catch me on the straight before the climb, not that they were trying particluarly hard, but I didn't want to lead the bunch up the climb, I gave a short turn before dropping back into the group.

Later the prime sprint split the group into two and i was the one to cover the gap, then the race calmed down. The second prime came and I was at the back of the bunch as it split into several small groups, I worked my through all the groups trying to bring people with me, but many dropped my wheel. I made it into the second group on the road just as we hit the hill, but at this point the fatigue hit me as well as the massive effort I had just made.

I never truly recovered and pulled out with 5 to go, only just making sure that I wasn't lapped.

This race made it clear that I am more than capable now of performing in races, but made me think that maybe if I hadn't raced on thursday or if I hadn't been the back. Alot of ifs and buts this time, but the outlook is generally good.
