Race 25 Lee Valley Velopark CC Hackney

VICTOIRE! I won my first race and of course it was in a sprint.

Signed on literally after the last second and had to beg the commissaires to let me start, luckily I was already signed on online.

A cold start, no roller warm up, no practice lap just 3, 2, 1, go. I decided to sit back for the first 20 minutes to get the legs going, and it worked.

A while in, I was still at the back and decided to move up, on the would-be finishing straight iI sprinted up the outside while in the wind, when I did get to the front I decided to keep going and held an attack for about a quarter of a lap, but I didn't go too hard to stay away.

2 laps to go and I was near the front, somone attacked and I chased him down.

On the last lap I was somewhere near the middle of the group when a massive crash took out a bunch of riders, luckily I was on the left side of the road and anyone who crashed ended up on the right because of the corner. 10 wheels down on the final straight the bunch squeezed up to the right side of the road, then I launched my sprint really early up the left, I made it to the front of the group and sat down for a bit saving my self slightly, I waited, then lauched again, stretching the gap. I had people closing in all the way to the line and in the end I won by about a wheel length.

All of the guys were really nice, handshakes and pats on the back, I won some prize money, £20 and a cup... well a bottle from the sponsor.

The final bit of news is 10 points means 17 in total, next season is as a 3rd cat, now the pressure is off this season, but I'm still keen to win more and maintain my momentum through to next year.
